We picked up some In-n-Out on the way and parked the car with the trunk facing the screen. The kids sat in the back seat while Stephanie and I sat in lawn chairs outside. The weather was perfect for sitting outside.

It had been years, since Stephanie and I first started dating, that we had been to the drive in. It was a fun experience, and the movie was good too.]]>

All in all I think the projects are good for the kids. I try to get them to read the directions, and Samantha pretty much makes the whole project by herself. They both still need help, but they are getting quite self sufficient. Samantha still doesn't like her picture taken. With all the pictures I've taken over the years, you'd think she'd be used to it by now and just give in. Eventually she'll give in a look and offer up a smile.]]>

Esther walked the kids and Stephanie around and showed them many of her classmate's projects, while Matt and I hung a few feet back while he gave me the "real" story on the projects.

Congratulations Esther for graduating and putting such a cool display together!]]>

6/14/2015 - Photos - Mount Baldy Tubing http://www.stonick.com/stonick5/ALL/#2-1387
We rode up the chairlift then got some hot cocoa in the lodge while we waited for our time to do the inner tubing. The kids had fun playing in the snow while we waited. Then it was our time to go tubing.

After a few run Trevor was holding on to a wooden railing and then slipped, giving himself a splinter. But we could see the splinter through his glove, so we figured it was pretty big. It was huge, going right through the front tip of his finger.

Long story short, we couldn't get it out at First Aid (they are better equipped for broken bones), but instead of going straight home, which is what Trevor wanted to do at first, we stayed on the notch a little longer and played more in the snow. Trevor soon forgot how his finger hurt.

No one got hurt further, even in our intense snowball fight (I did however get hit in the face by my most wonderful daughter, but I'd survived). We had a great time, and we also really enjoyed just going up and down on the chair lift, which took approximately 15 minutes each direction.

It was a fun day, and nice to see the snow from time to time. At least for us in sunny Southern California.]]>

They had fun showing us their projects. Samantha asked that we get some dry ice to help make her Uranus project more exciting. It was fun for Trevor to have Mr. Ross for first grade as that is who Samantha had a couple of years ago. Samantha this year had two teachers, Ms. Rubio and Ms. Iler. She also liked her teachers this year, which is great. We like their teachers too (everyone wins!).

But of course I'd go see them with her.

So a week or so after seeing Faith No More at the Wiltern I was back at the Wiltern seeing Ok Go. Stephanie got tickets up in the pit, which was nice as it's fun to see them so close.

They played an awesome show and I really enjoyed listening to their songs. They also did some really cool visual effects, one being a transparent screen they lowered in front of them and projected things on it.

I'd also say that it seemed that the confetti canons were firing near constantly.

We had a good time at the show and it was fun to check out a new band that I didn't really know much about. Now I'm listening to their latest album. Fun stuff!

Thanks Stephanie.]]>

So long story short I got two pit tickets to see Faith No More at the Wiltern. Kevin went with me to see them. We were right up in the front, which is always a fun perspective to see a music group.

The opening act, HO99O9, was terrible, completely unlistenable. But Faith No More was awesome. They played on a all white stage, including their clothes. The stage was also decorated with rows and rows of flowers.

Here are the songs they played.

5/17/2015 - Photos - Hiking San Gabriel Peak - Mt. Disappointment http://www.stonick.com/stonick5/ALL/#2-1381
We stopped first at the saddle between the two peaks and just Brad and I made a quick trip up to San Gabriel Peak. Afterwards we all walked up to Mt. Disappointment for a few pictures.

The view was unique as due to the heavy cloud cover, you couldn't see anything... any direction you looked. The clouds would roll in and out, which made for some fun and different pictures.

I also hugged a Poodle-dog Bush.

Afterwards we got a bite to eat and drink at Congregation Ale House in Pasadena. Always fun and tasty.]]>

After Samantha was tired of that, I don't think Trevor would ever get sick of this, we played an "American Gladiators style final round" type. I set up a target the kids had to hit, and then set the living room up with bunkers and the like. They both had the guns, and I had the bow. If they shot the target before I hit them, they won. Obviously the kids had no idea was American Gladiators was as that show hasn't been on TV since the early '90s, but they did have fun on the few rounds that we did.

After Stephanie got home, my parents came over and we got KFC like we do once a year or so, usually for Mother's Day or Stephanie's birthday. But this time we also got fried chicken from Church's and Popeyes to do a taste test. We all thought that KFC and Popeyes were better than Church's, but about the same when compared to each other.

It was a nice day and Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there. But a special Happy Mother's Day to my mom, who birthed me, and another Happy Special Mother's Day to my wonderful wife.]]>
